Sporting Success for Our Lady's
Our Lady’s Qualify for All-Ireland
A very big congratulations to Our Lady's Grammar School athletes who did exceptionally well at this years regional Co. Down and Ulster schools' Cross Country championships.
The junior team which consisted of Victoria Kinkaid, Mairead Grant, Ciara Grimley, Naoimh Murray, Sarah Creegan and Maria Kinkaid came away with the Junior Ulster Team Title for the second year running.
In the intermediate race Orla McAteer carried the flag for Our Lady's and qualified for the Ulster Championships' recently held at Mallusk Playing Fields in Glengormley.
Both Maria Kinkaid and Orla McAteer qualified for the ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIPS to be held in Cork. The PE department would like to take this opportunity to wish them the very best of luck!
Ulster Gymnastic Championship
Congratulations to Our Lady's Grammar School who had a clean sweep at the Ulster Schools Sports Acrobatic Championships at the weekend in Lagan Valley Leisure Centre, Lisburn. The U13 team who won Gold, which consisted of Kaitlinn Connor, Maeve Finnegan, Paula Mathers, Eimear Fearon, Kelsie Hughes, Nicole Johnson and Laura O'Hagan will join the British U19 Our Lady's senior Champions at the British Championships in May representing Northern Ireland.
In the U13 pairs Kaitlinn Connor and Maeve Finnegan won Gold for a second year beating off very stiff competition. Congratulations to sisters Meghan and Ellen McConville and also Laura O'Hagan and Seanin Hurley who came joint fourth in the U13 pairs competition. This was an excellent achievement as it was their first ever performance at Ulster level.
Cushla Connor and Cara Cully secured gold in the U19 pairs section with an unbeatable performance and scoring a 8.95 from the judges on the day. Orlagh Carroll and Rebecca Cable received silver in the U19 Senior pairs and also performed out of their skin.
The Gold medal winners from the pairs and U13 team will be joining the current U19 British Champions, also from Our Lady's Grammar School, when they perform in Stoke-on- Trent at the British finals in May. Their Coach, Roxanne Connor and Head of PE at Our Lady's Grammar School, Imelda McAteer were delighted with the girls performance on the day and would like to take this opportunity to say well done and good luck at the British Championships.
Ulster Youth Championships
Congratulations to Aine McCreesh, Maria Kinkaid, Victoria Kinkaid and Lauren Garvey who came 3rd in the 14 year old freestyle relay with a time of2.02. Also congratulations to Aine who came 3rd in the 14 year old 100m freestyle with a new personal best of 1.04 and also got into the 100m backstroke along with Maria Kinkaid.
