Visit to the Islamic Centre and Mosque in Dublin
Forty J3 pupils visited a Mosque as part of their Religious Education Programme. Having studied the Islamic faith for a number of weeks the pupils were given the opportunity to experience the life of a Muslim during their visit.

Pupils are excited as they keenly wait to enter the Islamic Centre in Clonskeagh, Dublin.

The minaret where the call to prayer can be proclaimed five times a day by the muezzin.

The Qur’an which is read five times every day.
Some pupils stand with our guide, who is a hafiz, in front of the mihrab which indicates the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca. Our guide explained the origins and development of the Islamic faith and explained the furnishings inside the Mosque. Each pupil had to remove their shoes as she entered the Mosque.

The pupils had a memorable day and enjoyed the experience of learning about a different culture.
