European day of Languages
The European Day of Languages, an annual celebration when Our Lady’s likes to celebrate this in a unique way with fun competitions and incorporating languages into the day, whether it be answering the register in a different language or simply just greeting someone with a phrase such as ‘Bonjour’. The European day of Languages aims to show people how important languages are and how much fun they can be, because each language is one of a kind.
No matter what year group you are in there is always plenty happening.
It was also a great day for all the staff, who got to enjoy the different types of food from all over Europe in the Four Arches, such as Irish Stew from Ireland, Paella from Spain and Pasta from Italy.
The J2 poster competition was a great success. The school was decorated with all the flags of Europe and splashes of colour from every direction.
The J3 Quiz was also very entertaining. Everyone was split into groups of four and there were lots of rounds including a music round and a picture round. Some of the other rounds included a language round, food and culture round and many more, and of course all the rounds are to do with Europe.
We think that the European Languages is a good day to celebrate because not only are we celebrating the languages but we are celebrating different cultures. So in Our Lady’s we combine the two, through food tasting and quizzes which makes the day extra enjoyable. We look forward to many more European Days of Languages in the future.
