Key Stage Three Success

An Awards Ceremony was held recently in Our Lady's Grammar School, Newry, to celebrate the achievements of last year's J3 pupils in their Key Stage Three examinations in English, Mathematics, Science and ICT.

In all subjects the level of performance was considerably above the Northern Ireland Grammar School Average and the girls and their teachers were congratulated upon their hard work and their success.

In ICT over 8,400 pupils in N. Ireland were assessed by CCEA this year and only 27 in total were awarded Level 8, the highest level of achievement. A remarkable 11 pupils from Our Lady's reached this standard, a really outstanding achievement.

At the Awards Ceremony, girls also received Certificates to acknowledge and celebrate their involvement in school sport, dance and music and to mark excellent attendance.

Principal Ms. Geraldine Pettigrew commented:

"I am very proud of the excellent academic achievements of the girls and of their significant contribution to the wider life of the school. I thank all of their subject teachers, Form Teachers and Year Heads for helping and supporting them throughout their years in the Junior School and I thank also parents and family members for the unfailing support they give to their daughters and to Our Lady's. I wish all the girls great success as they embark upon their GCSE courses and I know that they will maintain the superb standards that they have reached at Key Stage Three."
