Lower Sixth Induction 2006
On Tuesday, September 5th 2006, the Lower Sixth year group went on a trip to Tollymore Forest Park. The aim was to bond and become acquainted with all of our fellow comrades. Despite some initial hesitation everyone got involved in the activities and it turned out to be a very fun day for all! The teachers also appreciated the break from school, strolling the park and laughing at us as we fell in mud piles and were chased by killer wasps.
The activities were deceptively simple-looking. However they required a team effort, group communication and collective brain power. Our instructors were very helpful and encouraged all pupils to participate. Some even provided entertainment, namely Mark, our all-singing, all-dancing multi talented man!
All of the pupils seemed to love the spider’s web, a maze of ropes which had to be passed through without touching. Our appetites growing, the Four-Arches provided lunch was welcomed as stomachs grumbled. The skipping games, played at the end, were a fond reminder of our primary school days, when homework was minimal and millennium babies were awaiting their birth!
To sum it up, we had a super day. The weather was even on our side when the sun appeared around midday. We got a little dirty but nobody really minded as we sang our way home on the bus!
