The girls of Our Lady’s Grammar School are once again celebrating tremendous success in their A Level Examinations.
Every student in the Year Group passed at least three A Levels and 85% obtained three or four A – C grades. (The N. Ireland Grammar School Average is approximately 71%).Three-quarters of all examinations taken were awarded Grade A or Grade B.
One very notable performance was that of Drama Student Helen Donnelly who came first in the UK out of almost thirty three thousand candidates in the AQA examinations in Languages and the Performing Arts.
Helen and her Drama Teacher, Mrs Elizabeth Curley, have been invited to a Presentation Ceremony in Westminster to mark this outstanding achievement.
Off to America in September is Helen Kerr who has been awarded a prestigious Scholarship by the English Speaking Union to study in the US for a year before beginning her university studies in Law.
Commented Principal Ms Geraldine Pettigrew: “I am very proud of all of the girls who sat their A Levels this year; they have maintained the exceptionally high standard of A Level success achieved by pupils of Our Lady’s every year. I am deeply grateful to their families for working with and supporting the school throughout the years of their daughters’ education. Many thanks too, to the splendid teachers and the wider staff in Our Lady’s whose dedication and care has enabled these splendid young women to fulfil their potential and to move on with confidence into a new and exciting future.”
