Ulster Success for Our Lady's Gymnasts
On Saturday 4th of March the gymnasts from Our Lady’s Grammar School travelled to Lisburn Leisure Centre for the Ulster Schools’ Gymnastics competition. Their coach Mrs Connor had been training the girls up for a number of months for this competition.
The standard was very high, with 5 different schools competing against Our Lady’s. The day got off to a great start as the U11 team from St Josephs Primary School took silver. Things got even better as the U13 OLS team came 1st with a score of 8.50.

In the under 19 category the B team started the competition followed by the A team. Both teams performed to the best of their ability, with the B team finished 3rd place as the A team finished 1st.
B team members were :
Rachel Carragher, Ashling O’ Hanlon, Ciara Smith, Amy O’ Hagan, Aislinn Morgan and Orla Mc Manus. They achieved a score of 8.20.
The A team members were : Cara Cully, Naoimh Reilly, Laura Cowan, Sarah Mc Entagart, Cúshla Connor, Karen Mc Coy and Roisin Bradley as sub. They achieved a score of 8.54
In the under 19 pairs there were 5 pairs from Our Lady’s. 1st place went to Naoimh Reilly and Laura Cowan and they achieved the highest score of the day with 8.94.
2nd place went to our 4th year pair Roisin Bradley and Hannah Mc Keever with a score of 8.78.
3rd place went to our 2nd 4th year pair Kirsty Lowry and Rebecca Hannaway with a score of 8.72.
A 4th place went to the 3rd year pair Cúshla Connor and Cara Cully who had a score of 8.68.
Our last pairs Rachel Carragher and Ciara Smith finished 6th with a score of 8.46.
The gymnasts will now represent Northern Ireland at the British Schools’ Championships in Stoke on Trent on Saturday 6th May when they will compete against the 12 regions of Britain.
The U 13 and under 19 teams will be defending their British titles at this event.
