SCHOOL RETREATS

On Monday 27thFebruary, the 3rd years, with Sr Yvonne and a team of L6th students, went to Mt Oliver Institute in Dundalk for their retreat day.

Their theme was ‘My Image of God’ and this was explored through Prayer, Drama, Discussion and Art, with some time allowed for fun and games.  A comment from one 3rd year was… “It was good to have time to think about God in my life and the seniors helped us a lot and were very good at sharing their thoughts so then you could share yours”.

On Monday 6th March and Tuesday 7th March the 2nd and 1st year students respectively also went to Mt Oliver Institute and were lead by teams from the U6th.

The 2nd year theme was on the importance of listening to God, taken from the Martha and Mary story in the Gospel.  As with the 3rd years it was explored through Prayer, Drama, Discussion and Art with time set aside for games.

The 1st year theme was from Matt.25… “I was hungry and you gave me to eat…”  and again they explored the theme through Prayer, Drama, Discussion and Art with emphasis on the importance for caring for each other and seeing God in everyone. Each group had a break for games.

The Senior Retreat Teams themselves got a lot out of the days themselves.   One student remarked… “It made us take time out to think about our own lives and our relationship with God and how important our faith is to us”.
