Our Lady’s Grammar School, Newry

Healthy Eating Competition

Our Lady’s girls are going to eat more healthily in 2006! That is the aim of a new venture being promoted by the Four Arches Restaurant in the school, with support from Newry and Mourne District Council, Bridge End Cycles, Newry, Lynas Frozen Foods, Around Noon, Deli- Lites, Vitafresh and Coca Cola.

Between January and April students will be awarded points on their restaurant smart card when they choose foods from a range of healthy options. The rewards, for those girls with high points on their cards, are very attractive.

Over 1000 points will earn the holders free swims in Newry Swimming Pool, while the over – 16 girls with highest points will be given restricted free membership of Newry and Mourne’s Planet Pulse with fitness tests included. Other prizes include vouchers and sports bags while the pupil in Years 8-12 with the overall highest number of points will be the proud owner of a brand new bicycle, courtesy of Bridge End Cycles. The Prizes are excellent and after the excesses of Christmas, Our Lady’s now looks forward to an even more energetic and healthier pupil population by April 2006.
